PIRATE – needs home
Pirate was picked up from outside our private villa in a very bad condition: his eye was horribly bulging out, bleeding and infected, his jaw was broken, he was not able to move properly, but he was friendly and ambitious to live. We took Pirate to Dr Jim Bolssens of Europets, who came to conclusion Pirate was likely a car accident victim and was barely surviving. Decision was made to operate Pirate to patch up broken jaw with wire, to remove the eye (could not be saved) and to fix whatever else required fixing on this poor feline lad. Now we are happy to say that Pirate has recovered marvellously, he is well, confirmed healthy by Dr Jim, vaccinated, microchipped and has his own passport.

SHEBA – parakeet with cage in need of home
We have been keeping this beautiful parakeet at our store, who we named Sheba. Sheba has been left at our shop some time ago, and we now feel she deserves permanent home and family to love her. Hence we decided to offer her for adoption along with her cage (she cannot be accommodated in any smaller enclosure, in fact we encourage her future keeper to allow her a few hours every day to roam free within a room under supervision). Cute pet rabbit girl is looking for her forever home. She is litter trained in-house bunny, who is allowed and used to roam around free inside the house during the day, so preference is given to homes with similar conditions (somewhere she isn’t in a hutch/cage all the time). DODGER – Bunny Rabbit for adoption
Directly from the owner * : Dodger is a 7 month old male Bunny Rabbit, he is friendly and playful and good around kids. He does not like to be picked up too much, but he loves to be petted. He loves to eat leaves like mint and basil, they are his favorite, but he also eats many fruit like apple, banana and grapes along with his pellets!

PIGEON :)
Rescued pigeon is urgently seeking his safe new home. Our compassionate shop team managed to spot this pigeon as a baby in the teeth of a cat on the street & pulled him out. While I was sceptical the pigeon would live with his wounds & stress endured, my staff cared for him scrupulously & nursed him back to perfect health. Now that the pigeon is safe & sound, he no longer fears neither humans nor other animals (due to being raised in a pet store, always crowded with people & their or our pets). We also doubt he can find food outside as “wild” pigeons do… We have limited space in the shop for birds & feel it is unfair to the pigeon to be confronted to the cage while we cannot release him back to the streets. SAILOR – in need of home
UPDATE: Do you remember Sailor, rescued kitten who we offered to a good home a few months ago? He is back with us now. His luck hasn’t been good: first days of summer a lady with young daughter adopted him only to return him back to us now as grown up kitten because Sailor is “out of control”. For anyone acquainted with rescue & homing process, the evolution of this story is all too familiar: someone takes a young kitten or puppy for kids to play with while animals are young & cute, a few short months later the grown up pet is being returned under range of excuses. This is the best case scenario. In other cases adopted & no longer wanted pets “run away” or being left somewhere “safe”. This is one of the biggest fears for any pet rescue worker & is difficult situation to predict & prevent. This is why none of Pets Habitat animals are free to a good home. We absorb most of vet bills & other high costs associated with rescued animals. The main reason we ask for donation for our pets for adoption is to try to differentiate between customers, who just want a free pet to play with temporarily, & customers, who are genuinely interested to help less fortunate animal, who are prepared to spend for his/her future care for a lifetime. No pet should be given for free, they are not gifts, not toys. All animals are responsibility & commitment, & sadly some people only remember this when they must reach out to their wallets… If anyone has the heart to take now more grown & quite ordinary looking Sailor home permanently, please do visit Pets Habitat to meet him in person. Sailor has been found in an abandoned locked-up villa “to let”. He was alone, crying desperately inside dried up garden, extremely skinny & severely dehydrated. After a few moments of deliberation on how such a tiny kitten had happened to get over high boundary walls of deserted property, decision was made to collect him (to the surprise & amazement of real estate agent & neighours). Since Sailor turned out to be a real foodie, he has recovered splendidly in no time to be now available at our store for adoption. He has been microchipped, vaccinated & now even has his own passport.
